Strengthening Legal Governance of Pasture User Groups and Cooperatives Highlighted
As part of an effort to study the operations and best practices of the National Federation of Pasture User Groups of Mongolia (NFPUG) and the Green Gold Pasture Research and Development Center NGO, and to exchange information regarding aimag and soum-level pasture user groups, as well as to obtain updates on the revision of the Responsible Nomads Standard, Mr. P. Naranbaatar, Pasture Affairs Specialist, and Ms. A. Altanzul, Specialist in Pastoralist Organizations and Certification, conducted a working visit to the respective organizations.
During the visit, the specialists collected detailed information on the structure, management, operational frameworks, and pasture use agreements of local pasture user groups and cooperatives operating at the aimag and soum levels.
The parties emphasized the need to improve the governance of pasture user groups and cooperatives within the legal and policy framework. In particular, it was noted that promoting stakeholder participation, building institutional capacity, ensuring inclusiveness, and supporting equitable representation are critical to strengthening the sustainability and effectiveness of these local organizations.
