ASDIP Participation in EU DAY 2025
The annual Europe Day celebration was held on May 17 at the National park, bringing together a wide range of participants throughout the day. This year, the event featured 59 organizations, including embassies, NGOs, projects, and enterprises showcasing their activities to the public.
The “Aimags and Soums Green Regional Development Investment Program, (ASDIP)” participated in Europe Day for the first time, introducing the program’s goals and upcoming initiatives to the public.
The European Union actively supports Mongolia in developing climate policies, implementing its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and aligning national development plans with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also implements projects aimed at energy efficiency, sustainable production and consumption, and green business promotion.
The European Investment Bank (EIB), one of the program’s funders, finances green energy projects, the “Green Cities” initiative to reduce air pollution, and adaptation projects targeting water resource management, land use, and rangeland degradation in Mongolia.
As a signatory to the Paris Agreement since 2015, Mongolia has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 22.7% by 2030. With international support, this ambition could be raised to 27.2%.
To contribute to this goal, Mongolia is implementing the ASDIP program in three phases over ten years, reaching 76 soums across 17 aimags. The program is financed through a multi-tiered structure, including loans and grants from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the European Union, the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It is implemented by the Government of Mongolia and the Ministry of Economy and Development.
